How and when to monetize the blog?

I have always monetized it right away. We have 5 blogs and they all got monetized immediately. However, you wont get much income from it till you get a lot of people visiting your sight to click on the adsense ads.

I have heard that you should wait untill you get a good ammount of followers because the adds could annoy any potential readers, however, the last blog I built I monitized before the first post even went up

I would suggest keeping the adds low key until you build a decent ammount of readers, then you can work on making them more visible

I agree ... most of my time is advertising (building links).

I tried monetizing mine but it didn't work very well. Actually I made nothing lol
