Computer literacy in Job Hunting
The importance of computer literacy in job hunting can’t be overestimated. For example:
• There are thousands of different Web sites available to provide information on topics such as writing your resume and answering common interview questions.
• If you’re interested in changing careers, you can use the Internet to take career assessment tests and research how your current skills may translate to a new industry.
• Salary surveys can help you know how much money someone with your skills and experience can expect in a new position.
• Since many companies now advertise open positions on their Web sites or through online databases such as Monster.com, naukri.com, http://jobs.trovit.co.in someone with strong computer skills is better able to access listings that match their qualifications and career goals.
• If you’re interested in relocating, the Internet is often the best available resource for finding information about employment and housing in the community of your choice.
• Using your computer to apply for jobs is convenient. Sending resumes and cover letters via email only takes a few minutes and ensures instant delivery. You’ll also save a bundle on postage costs!

IT ENABLED SERVICES - India
The ITES industry is clearly the prima donna among Indian industries in terms of growth rate, profits and employment generation with a galloping growth rate of 70-75%.According to Nasscom the IT Enabled Services industry consists of the following:
4Back Office operations, data entry and conversion including finance and accounting and HR services.
4Customer Interaction services including call centers,
4Transcription/Translation services,
4Content development/animation/engineering/design and GIS
4Other services including remote education, data search, market research, network consultancy and management as IT enabled services.
Propellers for growth
The Global market for ITES sector is expected to be around US $ 611 billion. “Lots of people, with basic education and a mastery over English-this is India’s strength” points out an industry expert. “This is why China and Philippines have not been able to dominate the ITES market; though they have cheap labour, they are not yet fluent in English.” Thus the Indian ITES industry remains buoyant, at least till China catches up. Currently employing about 106,000 people in India, the ITES industry is estimated to give employment to more than one million people.
Threats faced by the Industry
Global Backlash: The industry is facing an unprecedented backlash globally against the outsourcing of work to India. Protests in USA, UK and Australia are already rising at an alarming rate. E-Funds, a US based corporation has even been forced to transfer some jobs from its Mumbai operations back to the US because of huge protests.
Threat from Other markets: Markets like China, Philippines and Ireland with cheap and skilled labour pose a large threat to the Indian ITES sector
Lack of Expansion: The industry soon face risks like continuously expanding the pool of talent and education. Lack of fluency in European languages like French, Spanish, Italian i.e. languages other than English, is India’s weak point.
Watch Out For
Banking and insurance is likely to provide the maximum opportunity to the ITES industry due to a high cost base and a large number of processes which can be outsourced.
