Generating new traffic?

So whats everyone's ideas on getting new traffic to a blog?

I've re-launched my site after about a year of downtime, and I decided to head into a blog format on my own domain. I've done the free stuff for awhile, so I might as well just use my own URL afterall.

But what about traffic? How are all of you getting new visitors? I'm slowly building up new visitors each day, but its still quite low, and I really want to increase my numbers(especially of return visitors).

So, what are you methods?

Mine own blog is slowly increasing in traffic mainly due to passing on the URL to people I meet on my travels but also finding any and every blog directory and registering with them also helps.

Have you joined blogexplosion? It's really great. Basically, you visit people's blogs and they will reciprocate in return.

or you can join a number of traffic generating exchanges, such as

this is the same as www.bloggerswap.com which i'm using .. the ideas is our blog is display on other members of the same category. Soft of 'swapping' for more credits when your blog display more of other members blogs. It's a win-win situation.

I joined Blogclicker but have yet to get any results whatsoever from them. Is there a secret handshake that I should know about?

Bloggerswap was a nightmare for me. Refused to allow me to register, suggesting that my e-mail address wasn't valid (it is). No idea how to create the url banner they are wanting. Any suggestions?

Here's another one http://virtualloop.com

The trick to using exchanges is all in the browser.

If you surf one hour a day you earn 120 credits at 2:1 you earn 60 visitors.
Now if you use a multi browser, you can surf 5 exchanges at the same time and earn 300
visitors per hour.

Step one:
Download and install multibrowser at http://crazybrowser.com

Step two:
Join blog traffic exchanges
http://virtualloop.com
http://www.blogexplosion.com/index.php?ref=intheloop

Step three:
Set up the browser. Open the browser and open begin oprning every blog exchange you belong to. Once you have all of them open, click the groups tab on the toolbar. Select ADD ALL TO GROUP from the menu. This will save all the links as a group.

Now all you have to do is open the browser and click on your blog group. All five or six exchanges will open at once and maximize your traffic exchange time.

Isn't that kind of cheating?
There are all these morons that join my exchange, and I will delete them when they are cheating.
