Blog is running slow with amazon widgets

Hi there, we are trying to get our blog running quickly but are having some issues along the way. We have had to majorly resize our photos which has helped somewhat but the quality of the photos don't seem the best and also we were adding widgets from amazon for advertising purposes but they were majorly slowing down our site and we had to remove them.
